Where You’ll Go

Berret’s Grill

Berret’s Seafood Restaurant and Taphouse Grill has been Williamsburg’s favorite seafood restaurant since 1983. Located in Merchant Square, the building sits on the same land that was once used as a dumping ground for bodies.

The Public Hospital

Williamsburg’s Public Hospital for Insane and Disordered Minds was one of the first dedicated buildings for housing and treating the mentally ill. Patients of the hospital were subjected to inhumane treatment, and though conditions improved under new leadership, the hospital continued to experience tragedy when a fire destroyed the building and killed a female patient. It’s said that, along with other former patients, she roams the halls of the restored building.

Dog Street Pub

Dog Street Pub has a unique and eccentric history. Eighty years before owner and executive chef David Everett decided to add it to his local offerings, Dog Street’s building began as a bank. It was already inhabited by the ghost of Thomas Moore, a husband betrayed and a man killed in his prime.
